The objective of the campaign was to combine GPS, real-time data, and augmented reality (AR) to create an innovative Snapchat scavenger hunt, allowing consumers across the country to search for the hidden “8” and win a new iPhone 8 on Verizon. Players received clues about the location and timing of the hidden lens, which they needed to find using GPS and real-time data, such as weather reports, to pinpoint the exact moment it would be unlocked.
