In 2016, Fox revitalized the classic horror film The Exorcist and sought to modernize a notorious scene involving a possessed child’s head spinning 360 degrees. To achieve this, Fox partnered with Snapchat to create a lens that allowed users to replicate this eerie moment. Utilizing advanced motion tracking, graphics, and 3D modeling, the lens enabled users to simulate a spinning head effect and share it with their friends. The campaign achieved remarkable success, with the lens appearing in Snapchatter’s cameras 34.7 million times, being posted over 3.4 million times, and ultimately reaching 35.5 million unique Snapchatters, surpassing expectations by fivefold.
