Recognizing a need for innovative solutions, Snapchat responded by developing a Snap AR Lens to promote safe social distancing. This lens used proximity technology to visually demonstrate a 2-metre safe zone in real-time. By leveraging Snapchat’s platform, the lens educated millennials and Gen Z on maintaining safe distances, thereby encouraging responsible behavior during essential outings. Within its first week, the lens garnered 500,000 views and was actively used by 100,000 individuals. Its impact extended beyond digital platforms, influencing OOH campaigns and receiving positive media coverage. Ultimately, Snapchat’s initiative not only educated but also empowered young audiences to contribute to global health efforts by adhering to social distancing guidelines.
