Hi Creators!
We’re excited to invite you to another hackathon by Lenslist and Meta. The Showcase Your Culture hackathon is about how we define culture – your origins, family, friendship group, or passions and hobbies you share with others. Culture is what makes a community, so express what makes your own community special!
Submit your effects by December 5th, 11:59:59 PM CET to win your share of the $50,000 prize pool!
Please read Terms & Conditions before you register.
The Task
We’d like to see World AR effects with 3D objects that showcase your culture. That could be the culture in your country, family or friendship group. Culture is what makes community, so express what makes your community special.
Think about experiences that promote play and keep people entertained.
Or that make people feel more connected.
Or that can be customized to reflect individuality.
Or that might be useful to people from a specific community.
The top features we’re looking for are:
- Inclusion of 3D objects, which should add interactivity and/or utility element to your effect,
- World AR effects (playable with a rear-view camera),
- Reflecting a sense of community.
Inspiration
Here you’ll find a few examples of World AR effects we’d accept in this hackathon.

2x 2nd Place – $5,000

Judging Process
The judging process in this hackathon starts with a pre-selection conducted by the Lenslist Team – you can be sure all of your submissions are tested and checked. Then, we invite our judges from Meta – Markus Brunner, Business Engineering Manager, AR/MR, Michael Borke, Business Engineer, AR/MR and Casie Millhouse, AR Specialist – to score your effects on 4 different criteria:
Relevance to theme (10%)
Does the effect successfully showcase a culture or celebrate diversity?
Quality (30%)
Is the effect reliable (work as intended, work every time) and work across different devices? Is it intuitive to use, and interactions are easily discovered?
Value to end users (30%)
Will people find this effect valuable? For example, it makes them feel connected, is useful, lets them express themself, lets them play. Would people enjoy using this effect or recommend it to a friend?
Craftsmanship (30%)
How complex, polished and immersive is the effect?
At the same time, the core of our Lenslist Team, consisting of:
our CEO Paweł Jarco, Co-Founder – Zuza Śliwińska, our AR Project Manager & Research Lead Aleksandra Juś and last but not least your favorite Community Manager – Jana Michajłowskaja – scores the shortlisted effects, too. Then, we combine all of our scores and make the final decisions based on the number of accumulated points.
