Your project can showcase a memory from your travels or finding a new idea or concept as well asa friendly 3D trip companion or a treasure-hunt-like journey discovering a new AR-filled world! Both Lightship’s tech and Niantic’s vision of the real-world metaverse encourage people to go outside, exercise and connect with others, so we hope you’ll explore these ideas in your AR experiences!

You can submit your AR experiences for the Lenslist x Lightship Templates Challenge from June 1st until July 14th meaning you’ve got a whole month to work on your Lightship project 📆 ⚡️

In this challenge we’re awarding 16 Developers/Creators with 3 different types of prizes from $1,000 up to $10,000 each. Overall, the prize pool is worth $45,000! 💰 👇

Remember, you must leverage a template in your entry to be eligible, but feel free to build upon that template or even combine templates!

Blend your AR object into the real-world. Understand the world around you and mask AR objects with a variety of real-world segmentations – depth, meshing, semantic segmentation.

  • Use Lightship as the foundation of your AR Experience submission.
  • Only use work and assets to which you have the rights!
  • Enter as many times as you want!
  • Submit a zip file of your Lightship Unity project as well as a video demo of the AR experience!

FAQ

Who can take part in the Challenge?

  • You must be at least the age of majority in your country, state, province, or jurisdiction of residence at the time of entry;
  • this Challenge is open globally, but with exceptions (see the question below),
  • Employees of Niantic, Inc. and Lenslist (both Lenslist and Lens That) and their immediate family are not eligible to participate,
  • Both individual Creators and collaborative Teams of 2-4 Creators can participate,

Residents of which countries can NOT take part?

This Challenge IS NOT open to residents of any of the following countries: American Samoa, Anguilla, Dominica, Fiji, Guam, Palau, Panama, Samoa, Trinidad and Tobago, US Virgin Islands, Vanuatu, Seychelles, Quebec (CA), China, Crimea, Cuba, Sudan, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions of Ukraine and Syria.

How to take part in the Challenge?

Step 1: Download the Lightship ARDK or start a new exploration-themed project!🗺 If you’re not sure how to get started or keep going, go to Resources section above 👆;

Step 2: Make sure you read and understand the Terms & Conditions and fit into the Challenge timeline: June 1st – July 14th, 2022;

Step 3: You can submit multiple projects, but you need to upload them separately, after filling in a short registration form;

Step 4: Make sure your Entry is created in agreement with our Terms & Conditions and Niantic Business Terms of Service;

Step 5: Submit a demo video and project code base via Dropbox or WeTransfer links using the submission form at the bottom of this page to showcase your build! ☀️👇

Step 6: Within 48h you will get a confirmation email from our Lenslist Team, so that you can be sure your entry was received.

  • First things first – Design your Lens in Lens Studio and then publish it on Snapchat. Download Lens Studio here;
  • Keep in mind, your Lens should coincide with the Fashion Month theme;
  • Keep in mind that in order for your submission to be valid, Lenses must be published on your Snapchat account in public mode after August 2nd, 2022;
  • Entries must follow Lens Studio guidelines;
  • Important note: Retain your original source files in the highest quality possible, as we might need them to make the final decision;

2. Register and submit your Lens using the form at the bottom of this page.

  • Each Creator/Developer or Team can submit 15 Lenses max;
  • Each and every Lens should be submitted separately;
  • Each submission must include: Lens name, Lens link, Lens ID, Lens preview video.
  • At the Lens Submission level, we added a “Description” space for you to describe your project, if you’d like to explain your idea further (it’s optional),
  • When submitting your first Lens, you’ll have to fill in a short registration form, asking you to give us your basic information like: first name, last name, email address;
  • In 48h you will get a confirmation email from our Lenslist Team, so that you can be sure your entry was valid and in accordance with our Terms & Conditions.

Which Entries are NOT eligible for this Challenge?

  • Your AR project can’t include references to any real people, dangerous situations, other brands, show or imply alcohol or drunkenness, or anything offensive;
  • They must be original, unpublished work that does not contain, incorporate or otherwise use any content, material, software or element that is owned by or subject to any rights or licenses of a third party or entity. No other person or entity may have rights to any submitted Entry, while you can still use royalty free assets,
  • Projects submitted for our Challenge can be used by you for personal, non-commercial and portfolio use only;
  • Lenslist reserves the right to remove inappropriate, offensive and harmful submissions as well as projects that do not fit the brief.

What kind of assets can I use in my Entry? Can I use copyrighted material?

You can use free assets (eg. from Sketchfab) or those with royalty-free, non-commercial license as a part of your submitted Entry. You can’t use any third-party pre-existing copyright materials and/or stock images in your project. No other person or entity may have rights to any submitted Entry.

What kind of learning resources can I use? (templates, tutorials, code samples)

Feel free to use any of the templates, tutorials or code samples available on official channels and websites of Niantic Lightship and Lenslist.

Is there any Entry fee to take part in the Challenge?

No, submitting your Entry to our Challenge is totally free. Both downloading the software and entering the Challenge do not require any additional fee on your part.
