Hey Creators! ๐Ÿ’– Weโ€™re coming to you with the third and last prized Call for Content this year, organized in partnership with Spark AR! In this contest you can win up to $5,000 and the whole prize pool increased to $50,000, so we can award even more amazing Creators than the last time! ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ’ช

This time, we challenge you toโ€ฆ

Create and publish an AR Effect for Instagram that will show your vision of…Those Long Nights ๐ŸŒ™๐ŸŒ ๐Ÿ’ƒ

We came up with this subject after an internal discussion about the Community as a whole and how diverse we are, yet having similar interests and goals in mind. So we came to the conclusion that we all probably have pretty similar mornings – having coffee or tea and then rushing to the office or going through emails or unfinished projects at home – but Those Long Nights…Itโ€™s a totally different story โœจ๐Ÿ’ซ

Like in our previous contest, we divide our 3rd Call for Content into two tracks:

1. Track #1: World AR

Show us the scenery youโ€™re transported to after dark – is it a concert, neon-lit deserted city streets or maybe a dream sequence guiding you on the path to your plans for the future? These thoughts and spots we go to when we canโ€™t sleep, for some super real and for others overly abstract…Take us to the place you go during Those Long Nights ๐ŸŒ™๐ŸŒ ๐Ÿ’ƒ It can be an actual place or an AR sculpture representing a world you visit only in your head!

In this track, you can win:

  • 3 x $5,000 ๐Ÿ†
  • 10 x $1,000 ๐Ÿ…

2. Track #2: User-Focused: Face Masks, Body Tracking, Hand Tracking

What is your after dark routine? Do you sometimes fall asleep with a book, phone or a sandwich in your hand or go through all the memes or clips you found online before closing the day? Others prefer to make Those Long Nights ๐ŸŒ™๐ŸŒ ๐Ÿ’ƒ social – partying with friends, reserving their evenings for the family or in the case of our AR Community – you may be still at your computer, coming up with another project! ๐Ÿ’ป

In this track, you can win:

  • 5 x $3,000 ๐Ÿ†
  • 10 x $1,000 ๐Ÿ…

So the overall prize pool went up to $50,000! ๐Ÿ’ฐ

What is World AR?

When talking about World AR, we mean all AR Effects designed for the back camera of your smartphone that place AR objects into peopleโ€™s surroundings.

One way of doing this is by moving an object from camera space into world space. If an object is in world space, you can set it to be in a fixed location in someoneโ€™s environment. Only mobile devices with gyroscopes can use Effects in world space.

Another way of creating a world Effect is with the plane tracker, which finds a horizontal surface in the real world, like a floor to table. We highly encourage you to explore tracking with recently upgraded possibilities and accuracy, both for plane and target tracking.
