Join the first ever prized Call for Content from Lenslist! 🤩 We partnered with Spark AR to bring monetization opportunities to the most active, inspiring and innovative members of the AR Creators Community.

We challenge you to…

Create and publish a World AR Effect on Instagram that will allow IG users to experience your version of the Halloween Tricks&Treats 🎃

Halloween Tricks&Treats (it’s not a mistake, we want both!) means we’re looking for the most interactive, fun and clever AR Effects you can make. We especially welcome:

  • Halloween-themed AR Games (here we allow an exception from World AR, if you use facial expressions as game controls),
  • Halloween costumes Try-ons (tip: you can also use Face Tracking for the back camera),
  • User-centric Meme-like Effects.

All working on the back camera of your device.

Creators who’ll come up with the most creative, innovative and interesting Effects will be awarded with:

  • 4 x $5,000 – Four Top finalists,
  • 10 x $1,000 – Ten honorable mentions with some cash to back the honors up!

Judging Criteria

  • 25%: Craftsmanship: technical achievements, capabilities used, ability to take advantage of the platform;
  • 25% Originality: uniqueness, difference from other submissions;
  • 25%: Creativity: creativity of elements used to create the Effect;
  • 25%: Theme: how well the Effect makes use of the contest theme.

What is World AR?

When talking about World AR, we mean all AR Effects designed for the back camera of your smartphone that place AR objects into people’s surroundings.

One way of doing this is by moving an object from camera space into world space. If an object is in world space, you can set it to be in a fixed location in someone’s environment. Only mobile devices with gyroscopes can use Effects in world space.

Tutorial: Creating World Effects

Another way of creating a world Effect is with the plane tracker, which finds a horizontal surface in the real world, like a floor to table. We highly encourage you to explore tracking with recently upgraded possibilities and accuracy, both for plane and target tracking.
