In 2020, with Halloween events canceled due to COVID-19, Netflix created “Netflix Haunts Your House,” a multi-lens AR experience on Snapchat to turn homes into haunted houses with family-friendly Netflix characters. Targeting parents concerned about keeping their kids safe and entertained, Netflix partnered with Snapchat to deliver a story-driven AR scavenger hunt. Parents placed Snapcodes around their house, and on Halloween, kids unlocked them to experience the haunted house narrative. Promoted through mommy influencers and Netflix’s social channels, the event saw 150K organic snap views, 201K total snap uses, and 28% higher than average lens engagement time.
